Welcome to icebluebanana.com!

about page

I am mark, your humble host. The picture to the left is me looking my best, though some people have told me that the picture looks better if you only look at the back of it.  Not nice.

Anyway, thanks for visiting icebluebanana.com, my latest obsession.  It was started in March of 2010 as a way for me to document a few of the things that I was working on so that they would not be lost.

Soon after I started, however, this website became something completely unexpected.  That is, at least to me.

Because I did not start this blog with the same intentions that most people who set out to be bloggers do, I was not sure what I really wanted to do.  After some thought, I came up with three ideas for what I want this to be.

  • Community – The biggest reason for starting this blog, as a blog, was to build a place that would allow a free exchange of ideas and beliefs.  No one will be left out here (unless you are really mean or like to spam the comments, of course).
  • Creativity – There is nothing that I like more about being human than the fact that we are, as a group, willing to create new ways to work through problems.  Some of us might call it a survival mechanism.  Whatever you call it, our creativity allows us to enhance our lives in new and better ways from the time we are old enough to think and remember.
  • Challenge – Perhaps you can look at this one as an extension or logical outcome of the items above.  Truly thinking outside of the box and avoiding group think is difficult to do, but that is our goal here.

A community where people act creatively to challenge each other to improve whatever they find to be lacking.

On this blog, you will see me periodically mess up.  Well, you will probably see that quite often.  Do not be afraid to call me out.  After all, I may not realize that I am doing something incorrectly.  We all learn at our own pace…

If you have an interest in writing an article which will appear on this blog, please have a look at the invitation to guest post.

Also, you will see a couple of ads on this site.  Really, I am not sure if I will keep them, but I was hoping to make enough to pay for the hosting service each month.  Anyway, please just ignore them if you are not interested in the products.

Please enjoy your time here and thank you for whatever it is that you help me to create.

Thank you, and have a great day!
