This Week on the Web – 11th of June, 2010

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about leaving my phone at home when I went to work. It was annoying and difficult being without my phone that day & that made me want to leave it home more often. However, I tend to do about 90% of the ‘work’ that I do for this blog on that phone, so I took it the next day, and the next day after that.
Actually, I took it to work every day after that until today. I would love to tell you that I had finally had enough and just decided to leave it at home so my bird could play with it, but that is not the case. I forgot it because I was in a hurry.
I am actually in a hurry right now, so here are the Best of The Web for the week ending on the 11th of June, 2010.
By the way, we had another incredible guest post this week -this time from a friend who lives quite a way from me. Don’t let anyone tell you that the Internet is not incredible.
Shameless plugs & other stuff
I rattled on again about balance again in “Define Your Life Balance“. This is a continuation of the work/life balance series that started with “Is Work/Life Balance just a scam?“.
Krishna wrote a thought provoking guest post about fighting off distraction called “Shun Distraction to Reach Your Goals“.
Then I continued the creativity series with a post that does not tell you how to be creative – “Innovation’s Last Stand“.
Found Elsewhere on the Net
A Gurl (named Jennifer) gave an incredible guest post for Karen with Succeeding Means Loving Yourself.
Matthew wrote a post about debt that I think anyone with a credit card should read here – Control Your Debt (part #2). I definitely recommend part 1 also!
The good people who are apparently Lost In The Woods wrote about 50 Ways to Get Your Site Noticed.
Scott wonders (aloud) Was It Good For You? The comments in this one had me laughing out loud for some time.
Brandon is a forward thinking person. He has found a way to be able to say that Piracy can make you money! This is thinking outside of the box!
Your Turn
Do you have an article or blog that you should be here in the future? Tweet them to me at @icebluebanana or tell me about it in the comments below!
By the way, don’t forget that it is Follow Friday on Twitter – you can find great people to follow by searching on “#FF”, or if you want to find my recommendations, search for “#ibb” or find me at @icebluebanana.
No matter what you do, do it well!

Hey Mark,
I can’t believe you do so much of your blogging work with your phone!
I need to get with the times I think.
Scott’s post title was funny, there is a lesson in itself… on why your blog post titles need to be enticing and grab that click-thru!

Nah, just do what you are comfortable with. I only use my phone for this because I spend quite a bit of time away from home.
Scott’s blog posts are always entertaining, especially with the community he has built.
Have a great weekend Sally!
Ahhh, Thanks Mark!
I’m blushing. Actually the title of that post still embarrasses me. I’ve asked myself 100 times, why did I do that? Uggg! Even though it seemed to be a good idea!
Also Sally, thanks for the comment! I aim to be funny
And, add me to the list that can’t believe you do so much on your phone. I know we’ve talked about this before, I still haven’t tried to blog on my Blackberry. I will certainly try it when I’m back working full time.
I also apologize for my recent post. It’s more of an educational rant that doesn’t involve you. I just had to vent…
Thanks for listening!

Ha! I like that title.
You have nothing to regret with that post about the Senate. I found it to be very interesting.
Have a great day!
It’s always nice of you to stop by. Are you responding to our blogs on your phone? I know you’re always multi-tasking.
Scott Barron´s last [type] ..Disappointed with Senate
HA. Most of the replies are via phone. Tonight, I am responding via laptop (much easier on the eyes).
Have a great night Scott!

Good list Mark. I always find something new and interesting.
Just started doing my own weekend reading posts. It helps me to do it throughout the week as I come across something interesting. That way I don’t have to do it all at once and try to rely on memory.

It is funny you say that about gathering your list through the week. I have been relying on memory & I tend to miss a few when I do it that way. This week I will try the method you describe and (try to) keep track as I go.
Have a good day John!

Hey Mark,
You sure like your phone. I am the exact opposite. I like my laptop to do my blogging.

Hi Louis,
It is funny that you say that. I do like my Blackberry. Though, if I were able to work on my computer more often, I would never us the BB.
I appreciate your thoughts! Have a great day!

Hi Mark,
thanks for the mention here, I really appreciate it.
Brandon’s right, ping backs are a great source of traffic!
I know how frustrating it is to leave your phone at home. I’ve done it twice in the last few months, very annoying. I blame it on the iPhone being black, the same colour as the kitchen counter – I just don’t see it!

Ha! That is a problem. I tend to leave the house a bit before the sun comes up so if I don’t turn on a light I forget my phone. Its a pretty simple plan for disaster
Have a great day Matthew.
