Why Triberr May Be The End of the Social Media Rainbow

Posted by: mark on May 2, 2011
Under the Rainbow

I recently mentioned Triberr in a post about SEO and Link Building and received a few emails from people asking about it effectiveness as a marketing tool.

My answer to this was simply that it has not been around long enough to tell for sure, but it does seem to have a huge amount of possibility. At the heart of Triberr is the concept of reach. That is, the bigger the number of people who are sent your message, the more potential you have to reach them.

Having said that, it really depends upon how the community uses it. If everyone ends up in one huge tribe, it may not be very effective.

Of course, there are many tools created to help people use Twitter to the best of its abilities. A few of them are:

  • twiangulate.com can help you to determine who your best followers are.
  • bufferapp.com can help you to schedule Tweets at the right times.
  • dlvr.it can help you to distribute your content.
  • friendorfollow.com can help you to know who is following you (paranoid?).
  • followfridayhelper.com keeps track of who reTweeted your content, so you can thank them.

Over the past few years, Twitter has become one of the normal marketing tools used by all bloggers and Internet marketers. I say “all” because I do not believe that anyone doing anything that is social online today would or could get by without Twitter.

Twitter has become so popular amongst Internet marketers that it is pretty rare for many people to look at their Twitter “stream” any longer. More often, people look at filtered lists or use searches to see what is happening.

Side note: If you are really curious about Twitter, another great resource is Aaron Lee’s website. He also happens to be in one of the Tribes in which I am a member.

Due to Triberr creators Dino Dogan and Dan Cristo having recently put a ton of effort into adding value to the blogging community, the tool has been making strides recently. Its adoption by bloggers in particular seems to be as likely as their use of Twitter itself.

I had an opportunity to ask Dino Dogan a few questions about Triberr and its use in marketing.

How did you get the idea for this Social Media tool?

I had cross pollinated my twitter stream with about 10 of my favorite bloggers. Every time I invited a new blogger to cross twitter streams with, I wished he could tap into my existing connections so that we can all benefit from it. Alas, there was no such platform. Until Triberr.

What need is Triberr designed to meet for the online community?

1% of top bloggers receive 99% of attention. And attention = traffic = opportunities (book deals, speaking engagements, etc). Triberr makes the playing field more even. It allows small and medium sized bloggers to extend their reach to rival that of blogging superstars.

My current reach is over 500 thousand. And anyone can do this by building awesome tribes of their own.

Now, the only thing that will differentiate one blogger from another is the quality of content. In case it wasnt clear from the context, I believe that smaller bloggers produce better content than superstars. The problem is that no one sees it. Also, there is a trust that comes from direct relationships that smaller bloggers can foster with their followers, whilst superstars simply don’t posses the personal bandwidth to build personal relationships with their following.

When one trusted blogger recommends an amazing post by another blogger, these two bloggers (who are in the same tribe) get to tap into each other’s community and commingle their followers. When two quality bloggers share in each other’s community, everybody wins. Now multiply that by the number of bloggers in your tribe and you have yourself a winning combination.

Do you plan to include any other social media platforms in the future?

Yes.

Can you give an example of what Triberr can be used for?

Triberr is made for connectors. People who are good at managing human relationships and bringing others to the table for the mutual benefit and cooperation. See 3 Master Tribe Strategies To Reach Multiplication for few ideas.

What are the three best things about joining and/or starting a Triberr tribe?

  1. You get to beef up your twitter stream by tweeting more often and sharing quality content without necessarily being there.
  2. Others in your tribe benefit from having your followers read their content.
  3. You benefit from having access to the followers of others in your tribe.

All you have to do is make sure to invite quality bloggers who produce awesome content into your tribe. And Triberr will take care of the rest :-)

Seems simple enough. But, how do you get the most out of it? Well, lucky for us, Dino made a video about how to maximize Triberr’s potential for you.

Of course, Triberr does not answer all of the needs related to using Twitter for Internet marketing. But, it does seem to be one of the best, most useful tools recently created.

The only two I use right now are Triberr and Buffer. Really enjoy using both. I think Dino and Dan are doing great things with Triberr and are always listening to feedback to make it better.

      Hi Benny,

Triberr does look to be getting better each week.

I also use Buffer, though I don’t use it every day – only when I want to target certain times.

Great tools. Thanks for the visit!

I love your conclusion. That means a lot to us :-)

    Hello!

Thanks for including my blog! Glad to be in the same tribe as you btw. Triberr has indeed changed since a lot since I started using it. I was actually hoping for triberr to add an editing feature on the tweets so that I can tune some of the headlines a little before I send them at, at the moment I manually do them on cotweet. Not a problem yet for me.

Love it still! Dino and Dan (D&D) has done an amazing job. Great interview btw.

Hey Mark, yes, I do use it and love it! The only thing similar to it I still use is Twitterfeed where I added blogs I can not be in a tribe with because of the Triberr inbreeding rules. But if I tell you that I have 900 followers, while my reach is around 300.000 and that Twitter became one of my top traffic sources, I think it explains a lot.

Ha Brankica – I know you use it. :)

I have not tried Twitterfeed, though it sounds like it could be useful for the reason you mentioned.

Search engines are still my #1 source, but I will say that Triberr has helped a good bit on bringing in more Twitter traffic.

      Have a great day!

Got an invite from Triberr about a week ago. I found out about from one of Brankica’s post, Thanks for that!

I’m just having trouble getting people to join my three other tribes. Do you guys have any suggestions or techniques that you’d like to share?

Will have a look at these different tools. I will have to have a go and see if I can put them into use. More followers would be nice.

I just signed up to Tribber and I haven’t done anything yet! I am still in the process of familiarizing myself with it’s platform. And as I have read on your blog… it can give you a big exposure and it entails a lot of benefits.

  8. Yes, I’ve joined Triberr! I think it’s absolutely amazing, and I love how it also helps me to get to know the people in my tribe even better because we’re enthusiastic about each other’s content and want to promote it even further.

I also use dlvr.it and am learning all the ins and outs of it. I’m still learning, though, so it’s taking some time.

Buffer is my absolute favorite simply because of how wonderfully easy it is to use, and the free feature delivers so much that it’s a tiny, application-sized miracle on my web browser.

I’m a Triberr user too Mark. I also use a few other tools mainly because I have more than one account. Still like SocialOomph, CoTweet, Buffer, Timely, just to name a few. Yep, I know it’s a lot… But I have found that I’m having a lot more fun on Twitter now that ever before in the past. Making some awesome connections too.

Thanks for sharing this info and for finding out from Dino what’s still to come. So glad he and Dan got together on this.

      Hi Thomas,

I think it would benefit you to have a look at Triberr. The functionality is upgraded often and it does make a difference for your traffic.

      Have a great day!

  11. Hey Mark,

I haven’t joined Triberr, and I don’t use buffer. I plan on taking a look at Triberr in the near future. It’s most surely on my to-do list. I have heard tons of positive things about it, so it would be crazy for me not to check it out.

Buffer isn’t for me though, I prefer to use Tweetdeck to keep track of my Twitter stream. That makes it very easy for me to follow certain list.

      Hi William,

Triberr is pretty cool, so the sooner the better.

Your comment about Buffer has me a tad confused. Its purpose is to allow you to schedule some of your Tweets at the best times. I use both Tweetdeck and Buffer, and it seems to be a good combination (for me anyway).

      Have a great day!

      • Hey Mark,

I think I had buffer confused…? Anyways, I need to try things out before I knock it. Scheduling some of your tweets sounds like it could come in handy. I love to use Tweetdeck to me their is nothing better. ( :

I just recently started using the plugin “tweet old post” and, it’s working out great. I just need to work on building my content!

Its really amazing to read about all these amazing developments and how the blogging community work together so closely, promoting each other. I’m not familiar with Triberr and it looks like it benefits more the bloggers but would like to explore and find out in what ways it can benefit a business. The Triberr word is out everywhere and I need to find out more.

Found you from a post on Alex Whalley’s blog.

Interesting finding this post of Triberr as I’ve been trying to figure out what it’s all about, but I see it’s an invitation only system, so I expect as a new comer it may be a while before I get to become involved.

Sure does make sense though – the ultimate leverage?

    Triberr rocks.

I really appreciate my tribe members in Anubis, Servant Leaders and Rockstars.

The people in my tribes put the effort to knock out the best blog posts they can. But it goes beyond that. Triberr is gelling as a community. Triberr people are talking to each other, commenting on each other’s blogs, and connecting at the speed of light.
